Little Simz enjoyed a 153% chart surge after her Mercury Prize victory.
The London rapper swept the award at this year’s ceremony, scooping the top honour during an emotional evening at the eventim Apollo, Hammersmith. The re-arranged evening saw 11 of the 12 shortlisted artists perform to a full house, with Lauren Laverne hosting proceedings.
Judge and guest presenter Jamz Supernova announced Little Simz as the overall winner, honoured for her superb record ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’.
A BPI analysis of Official Charts Company data shows that ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’ enjoyed a 153% increase in Chart Sales (which measures sales and streams combined); demand for her album on LP and CD physical formats rose a remarkable 141%.
Simz wasn’t the only winner in this post-Mercury surge, with Self Esteem’s ‘Prioritise Pleasure’ rising 161%, and Fergus McCreadie’s ‘Forest Floor’ gaining 144%.
