Deep, entrancing jazz grooves with a Middle Eastern twist...
Remix EP artwork

DJ Khalab explores jazz trumpeter Yazz Ahmed's work in an exploratory new remix.

The Jazz FM Award nominee released a full length album earlier in the year, with Yazz matching elements of her Middle Eastern heritage to contemporary movements within UK jazz.

A remarkable achievement, her melodic flair was mixed to a clear passion for fresh innovation, one that frequently stepped outside the barriers of 'jazz'.

Prepping a new remix EP, Yazz Ahmed has handed the keys to four of her compositions to four very different guest producers, each with their own style.

DJ Khalab aims for a deep percussive workout, re-tooling 'Jamil Jamal' as a field for bass saturation and stuttering almost DnB-like rhythmic bursts.

Shabaka Hutchings' horn lines intermingle, adding a spiritual side to this delirious soundsystem workout.

Tune in now.
