Outstanding, desert-scorched psychedelia...

British and American musicians seem to approach psychedelia in a different way.

Perhaps it's the varying climates – musical or otherwise – but American bands just seem to have that bit more grit, more bite in their sound.

Sunflower Bean certainly do. New single 'I Hear Voices' is a piece of desert bleached rock, psychedelic in the dirtiest manner possible.

Underneath, though, the chassis, the rhythmic skeleton is about as far away from psych as possible; carefully structured, the stop/start patterns and jerky percussive styles have more in common with Dischord than some drippy, tripped out wannabe.
