In a way, Shabazz Palaces are able to have everything they want. The group are signed to a label (Sub Pop) which can fund them while still respecting their independence, resulting in some breathtaking moments of hip hop futurism.
New album 'Lese Majesty' arrives on July 28th, the eagerly awaited follow up to the band's debut set 'Black Up'.
Previews have been few and far between, but a few moments ago Shabazz Palaces premiered a brand new track.
'#CAKE' is taken from Suite 4, which is titled 'Pleasure Milieu'. Part of seven suites (eighteen tracks overall) the production is lithe, loose limbed.
The vocals seem to snort and sneer, with Shabazz Palaces on raucously surreal form.
