2015's 'The Great Mixtape' remains a perennial spin in the Clash office, and recently invited Sampa The Great to play our KOKO takeover at the London venue.
Freshly signed to Big Dada, Sampa The Great has shared bewitching new track 'Rhymes To The East' as a celebration of the union.
Fusing a sparse hip-hop beat to Eastern flourishes, Sampa's direct, hypnotic flow continually veers in and out of the murky arrangement.
Recorded in one take, it's a raw, fresh return from a vital talent. She explains: "It was a stand out track to me and one of the strongest lyrics I have captured to date. As soon as I heard this beat, I knew exactly what I wanted to say. I was immediately transported to the East.”
