Listen: Ryley Walker – ‘Primrose Green’

Super psychedelic folk...

Sometimes the most adventurous thing you can do is to sit down and write a song that truly connects with people.

A figure in Chicago’s avant garde scene, Ryley Walker also has a shadow life, preparing lush acoustic folk worthy of comparison to John Martyn’s early work or to British super-group Pentangle.

Signing a deal with Dead Oceans, Ryley Walker is set to release a new album later this year. Ahead of this, the label have unveiled new track ‘Primrose Green’ and it’s a wonderfully sensual introduction to his charms.

Opening with clinking piano chords, teased out acoustic guitar lines and double bass groans, there’s a fluidity at work here, a beautifully pastoral sense of songwriting.
