The curious, posthumous success of Arthur Russell's work has been a joy to behold.
Recently the recipient of an all-star tribute album from the Red Hot Organisation – featuring Sufjan Stevens, Jose Gonzalez and more – more of the composer's work has been unearthed from the archives.
'New' album 'Corn' is the result. Available from June 9th, it features solo work from the composer, who provides cello, keyboards, rhythm machine programming, vocals, and production.
The material seemingly made it to test pressings in 1985, but nothing was released. For the current album, Audika Records used Russell's original 1/4” tape recordings.
Spase, spectral and haunting, new track 'Ocean Movie' is online now.
