Listen: Paddy Hanna – ‘Camaraderie’

Frank new track prompted by a bout of depression...

Paddy Hanna has a frank, yet poetic touch to his songwriting.

New single 'Austria' is a warm embrace, yet beneath the marching band rhythm lies a lyrical bite.

On the flip, 'Camaradarie' takes things even deeper. The arrangement tugs gently forward, a nest of wiry guitar lines and drum kit brush strokes.

The vocal is tender, but the lyrics – stark, direct – were inspired by a very real, very painful bout of depression.

Paddy explains: “Last summer I was crippled with depression, to the point where I was physically and mentally too sick to stand. I spent many weeks alone in my cottage growing ever more paranoid of the outside world and the joyful cheers of the summer crowd. The song (camaraderie) concerns losing touch with how it feels to be human in a tourist town.”

'Austria' will be released on May 11th.
