Listen: Lonelady – ‘Groove It Out’

Sparse, minimalist machine funk...

Someone who defiantly walks her own path, Lonelady has been quietly, patiently assembling new material.

Utilising a Tascam 8-track, the producer worked in a remote analogue studio in an industrial region in the States.

Lonelady explains: "I travelled there in October '13 and again during the 'Polar Vortex' freeze that descended on the States in January '14. Both trips were real adventures, injecting the final phase of album making with a renewed energy."

"I found it a totally sympathetic environment to be in and found a shared aesthetic in Bill (Skibbe, co-producer); I knew he'd sensitively aid the finishing of the songs and not impose on or disrupt their character."

New single 'Groove It Out' is online now. Raw and raged, its sparse, minimalist take on machine funk recalls the post-punk percussive explorations of Liquid Liquid, say, or even ESG.

'Groove It Out' is due to be released on November 17th.
