Kelis took a gamble - and it's paid off.

Signing with British independent Ninja Tune, the American artist swapped major label muscle for the communal ethos of a smaller label.

New album 'Food' though, is a triumph. Awarded 8/10 on these here digital pages, Clash writer Will Salmon opined: "It’s also the warmest, most relaxed and purely enjoyable thing Kelis has ever done. Wonderful."

Recruiting a select batch of producers for remix duties, Machinedrum was tasked with re-working 'Runnin'. The original version has an edgy sense of funk, with the American producer pulling Kelis further in the dark.

Toying with the vocals, Machinedrum sharpens up the percussive sensibility which ripples through 'Runnin'.
