In addition to being a film director of some renown, John Carpenter also peppered his early work with self-constructed scores.
Working with primitive synths and drum machines, Carpenter’s work on ‘Assault On Precinct 13’ for example, has rarely been bettered.
New album ‘Lost Themes’ arrives on February 3rd via Sacred Bones, and it marks the director’s first non-soundtrack related musical release.
New cut ‘Night’ is online and – somewhat pleasingly – it sticks to Carpenter’s tried and tested methods. Sparse, simple and hugely impressive, the pirouetting synths could easily fit into his 70s oeuvre.
