Ibibio Sound Machine are back with their unique, exuberant Afro-tinged sound.
The groovesome, strutting 'Basquiat' is the group’s first new material since their widely acclaimed second album ‘Uyai’ in March 2017.
It was written as part of the Barbican's Video Jam event inspired by the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat earlier this year – which also featured Young Fathers – that set out to reflect Basquiat’s wide ranging musical tastes, from bebop and jazz to hip-hop and experimental noise.
Fronted by London-born Nigerian singer Eno Williams, Ibibio Sound Machine fuse African and electronic elements, inspired in equal measure by the golden era of West African funk, disco, modern post-punk and electro.
Tune in to hear a perfect example of this fusion now.
