I.R.O.K. has prepared a new mixtape ahead of their show at the Clash issue 73 launch party.
The Intergalactic Republic of Kongo – as band names go, that’s quite something. Sparked by one time Dead Kids frontman Mike Title, the project has swiftly grown into an ever evolving collective which melts together Afrobeat, punk, electronics and more.
With only a handful of shows under their belt, the demented sound collage which is I.R.O.K. has managed to provoke huge hype.
Recently making a riotous visit to KOKO, I.R.O.K. has agreed to play the next Clash launch party. Taking place in the Lexington tomorrow night (April 5th) this is a rare chance to catch the group in such an intimate environment.
To celebrate, I.R.O.K. lynchpin Mike Title has pieced together a new mixtape. Titled ‘OPT IN OP’D OUT- THE 1970’s SPRING HAS SPRUNG MIXTAPE’ the mix opens with some quiet, introspective Miles Davis before running the gauntlet through a maze of prog, Afrobeat, funk and more.
