Well, Distance is still making vital, thrilling music. The producer's heavyweight sound became a defining element of the dubstep era, with his Chestplate imprint releasing a string of stone cold classics.
Recently, though, the Croydon producer has been drawn towards collaboration. Halflife is a new project from Distance, featuring the vocal skills of Riz Ahmed.
The MC lends his ominous, whispered delivery to 'Rip Me', with Distance supplying some sparse yet intense production. It's an admirable pairing, born from the pressures of inner-city life yet all the more poetic for that fact.
