"Stop tryna be Jesus, try and be better..."
No Religion

Two underground acts straight off the streets of Flatbush, New York, have joined forces on a brand new cut. The Flatbush Zombies, whose Meechy Darko is currently gracing the cover of Clash, and one of our Ones To Watch this month - The Underachievers, have gone and teamed up on furious rap track ‘No Religion’.

'Stop tryna be Jesus, try and be better' the chorus croons, as Ak and Issa Dash, Meechy and Zombie Juice give us their ten commandments. Extolling the virtues of an organised religion-free lifestyle, the hotly-tipped rappers spit over bars produced by Rich Flyer and third Zombie Erick, which has a strong old western movie feel.

With lines interspersed by an ironic ‘oh lawwd’, they philosophise verbally, musing 'there's no second life so I take pride in what I deal.' So it sounds like they’re taking this whole rap thing pretty seriously. ‘Stop tryna be Tupac, try and be better.’

Listen to it now.
