Bristol newcomer Fenne Lily has confirmed plans for her debut album 'On Hold'.
Clash caught the songwriter in a tiny Dutch church at this year's Eurosonic, an unexpected but quite special set that charmed all in attendance.
Debut album 'On Hold' is set to arrive on April 6th, and it's billed as a broad document of emerging creativity, matching folk textures to a near post-punk sense of deconstruction.
The title song is online now, and it's a beautifully balanced work, with the taut, composed songwriting rooted in that softly devastating vocal.
Detailing a break up, it's definitely not the tale of someone sitting around feeling sorry for themselves, as Fenne explains:
"My music comes from anger, but I can’t sing angrily, so I sing sadly. It’s a sadness that’s fuelled by fury…."
Tune in now.
