Listen: Fatima Al Qadiri – Star Spangled

"...dedicated to American national nightmares."

In case you haven't noticed, tomorrow is July 4th.

It's a day for Americans to toast their independence, a national holiday which has taken on global resonance.

Fatima Al Qadiri grew up in Kuwait during the first Gulf War, resulting in a rather darker impression of American values. Agreeing to take part in the Adult Swim singles series, the producer has turned in a distorted vision of 'The Star Spangled Banner'.

Re-tooled as 'Star Spangled' it's all dark atmospherics and claustrophobic production. "'Star-Spangled' is dedicated to American national nightmares," al Qadiri says in a statement. "On one hand, dark dreams of suburban serial killers and mangled hitch-hike heads. On the other, a false hope of national greatness cooked by covert agendas."

Check it out now.

'Star Spangled' will be released tomorrow (July 4th).
