Listen: Family Time – ‘Magic Abyss Hotel’

Woozy pop with an infectiously surreal edge...

Rising surreal pop duo Family Time have shared new single 'Magic Abyss Hotel'.

The group hinges on the partnership between two friends, two Spaniards living in London.

Tiring of the capital's grind, they upped sticks and moved to Majorca, nabbing a job as the in-house band in a local hotel.

Managing to convince management that they were a covers band, Family Time set about rehearsing some surreal pop jams live onstage every night.

Eventually they were found out, and returned to London to focus on a full album project, laying down their outlandish material in an actual, proper studio.

'Magic Abyss Hotel' is the first sign of their surreal pop genius, a hazy lo-fi jammer that opens with spoken word before delving into another dimension.

Oddly infectious, it feels as though it's been plucked from a dream – tune in now.
