Listen: Darren Hayman – Seven Months Married

17th century folk song unearthed...

Darren Hayman is preparing to release new album 'Bugbears' – stream preview track 'Seven Months Married' on ClashMusic.

Born and bred in Essex, Darren Hayman has always been fascinated by local history. Researching a series of local witch trials, the songwriter decided to make this the basis of his critically acclaimed album 'The Violence'.

A dramatic, striking LP it was swiftly followed by follow up EP 'The Four Queens'. Delving into the era, Darren Hayman found himself transfixed by a series of 17th century folk songs, which seemed to him to be able to bring the time to life.

Deciding to interpret a few personal favourites in his own inimitable style, the results are gathered on new album 'Bugbears'. Out on July 15th, ClashMusic have been granted permission to stream album track 'Seven Months Married' ahead of its release.

Chronicling an arranged marriage, this is a curious juxtaposition between 17th century lyrics and Hayman's trademark indie pop.
