Listen: Conducta – ‘Only U’

It's a soulful UKG stepper...

Conducta has never shied away from his influences.

The London producer holds down a show on Radar Radio, dipping through the UK garage archives, the sounds that first fired up his imagination.

New cut 'Only U' references these influences, but applies a unique sense of imagination, re-tooling those late 90s sounds for a 2k18 dancefloor.

There's an awareness of grime in the sharp-edged rhythms, while 2-step's innate spring is still in place.

The soulful vocal adds extra spice to the mixture, with 'Only U' somehow sitting at the centre of UKG, grime, and New Jack Swing, all while holding down a unique identity of its own.

Conducta explains: “With 'Only U' the aim was to put all my influences from Grime, R&B, and New Jack Swing into one track. I wanted to create something which had those R&B flavours but still had that 2-Steppy vibe and a swing to it. I wanted a vocal reminiscent to Shola Ama's 'Sweetest Taboo'. After being on first dates I felt as if the people wanted a tune that appealed to a romantic demographic. The perfect post-Valentines present to drop.”

Tune in now.
