Burial and Four Tet have unveiled their latest collaboration, in the form of ‘Nova’.
Heady days for fans of Burial. The reclusive producer released his new ‘Kindred’ EP last month, containing three lengthy spells of techno flecked bass meditation.
Now the producer has unveiled a new collaboration. Hooking up once more with Four Tet, the pair have crafted ‘Nova’ – which will seemingly gain release via Kieran Hebden’s Text imprint later this year.
Posted to SoundCloud around midnight last night, ‘Nova’ has the same melacholic, introverted atmosphere which permeated ‘Kindred’. However those stabbing chords hint at the ghost of rave culture, with ‘Nova’ boasting a euphoric edge struggling to eclipse the fragmented bass noir.

Searching through the archives, Clash recently put live a classic interview with Burial. “Listening to old tapes and tunes can’t help but make you sad,” he told us.
“They tried to unite the UK and it didn’t happen, so you feel like you’re listening to ghosts. Things move on; ravers get older and it’s emotional to hear tunes like the Omni Trio’s ‘Through The Vibe’ – it brings on a darkness that can make you cry whilst still being uplifting. I wanted that in the album.”
