The past decade has seen Stuart Murdoch spread his artistic wings.
Sure, the Scottish songwriter still pens indie pop gems for Belle & Sebastian but he's also worked on a book and a new film.
'God Help The Girl' will be released this summer and it sounds typically twee-tastic. The title cut has emerged online, with Belle & Sebastian supplying the music for 'God Help The Girl'.
Lead actress Emily Browning takes charge of vocals, which seems to spell out the film's main themes: a working girl in love with glamour, she's much prized by male admirers but refuses to be pinned down.

Stuart Murdoch has released a press quote stating that 'God Help The Girl' tells the tale of "a better summer, or at least a summer when something happened. It happened to a boy and a girl and a girl in a city roughly the same size and population of Glasgow. Perhaps the canals were a bit grimier, the high-rise buildings taller, the streets emptier when you needed them to be, and the beat clubs busier than the ones around here. But on the whole the city was this one."
'God Help The Girl' will be released on August 16th with the soundtrack to follow on August 18th.
