Banks has posted her striking, haunting new track 'Waiting Game' online.
Pop thrives on drama. Sure, the genre works as plastic, cheap, throwaway, most of the finest pop moments – the ones which last – are imbued with with a sense of drama, a feeling that something is at stake.
Banks seems to manage this with her every utterance. Hailing from Los Angeles, each track the singer posts online is a mini-epic, something draped in a very glamorous sense of melancholy.
'Waiting Game' is no exception. Produced by 4AD affiliated beatsmith SOHN, it's a languid, exceptionally dark piece of music which Banks' voice providing a rare beam of light.
Beautifully composed, it comes as Banks begins her stint as the opening act on The Weeknd's much anticipated new tour. Could this be her breakthrough? Quite possibly.
