Afghan Whigs have posted a new cover version of Frank Ocean’s ‘Lovecrimes’.
In one fell swoop Frank Ocean has made good on his early promise and justified the enormous hype which surrounded his career.
‘Channel Orange’ was released last week (digitally, at any rate) and immediately gained overwhelmingly positive reviews. Awarding the record 9/10 Clash writer Hayley Brown said: “Frank Ocean belongs to a tiny sub-genre of artists who possess the ability to sing in falsetto about a girl smoking crack and still sound like a fucking angel.”
We aren’t the only ones who were impressed. The Afghan Whigs have been performing Frank Ocean’s ‘Lovecrimes’ in their live set, and recently laid it down on tape during a quick visit to a recording studio.
Available as a free download, you can grab their version of ‘Lovecrimes’ below. Greg Dulli re-interpreting Ocean’s liquid R&B – isn’t that what we all long to hear anyway?
