Lissie Prepares Covers EP

‘Covered Up With Flowers’ due on February 19th

American chanteuse Lissie is set to tackle songs by Fleetwood Mac, Joe South, Lady Gaga and more on new EP ‘Covered Up With Flowers’.

From the start, it was clear to anyone who heard her that Lissie was steeped in classic songwriting. Fusing a pop sensibility with a very astute sense of Americana, debut album ‘Catching A Tiger’ won widespread critical acclaim.

Now Lissie has confirmed her next step. The songwriter has gathered a bunch of cover versions, revealing some of her influences and reflecting the tastes which ran into her debut album.

‘Covered Up With Flowers’ is set to be released on February 19th, with the six track EP demonstrating a deeply eclectic taste. The Fleetwood Mac classic ‘Go Your Own Way’ is due to be given the Lissie treatment, while the songwriter has also chosen material by Joe South, Nick Cave and Lady Gaga.

Lissie recently reflected on the moment she heard ‘Bad Romance’ for the first time. “This song was so huge when it came out and is such an anthem for unhealthy relationships! Haha! I had been in one for years myself which ended, and a few months later when I heard this song there was something so strangely sick and satisfying about it. I knew I had to do a version of my own. It’s a bit rebellious, like wanting what’s bad for you. I also knew it’d be unexpected by my fans.”
