Lissie has shared details of her new album 'Carving Canyons'.
The new album was largely constructed on her Iowa farm, a space Lissie used to seclude herself during the pandemic.
Using this time to absorb and process her emotions, she says: “It was an important period of time for me to explore some of my dark places and process it all.”
Combining her songwriting practice with farming, the multi-talented Lissie also appeared on Twin Peaks, and runs the music genre themed popcorn company Otts Pops Indie Pop.
'Carving Canyons' marks her return, and it's set to land on September 16th via Lionboy Records.
New song 'Flowers' is about grief, and moving on – it's also about accepting some of the darkness life can send our way.
“The prettiest blooms literally come from shit, it’s a fertiliser,” she says. “I wanted to claim my right to feel my feelings. As I grieved—not only for a relationship, but for the world in the midst of a pandemic—I felt like my anger made people uncomfortable, but I came out the other side empowered and ready to step back into my light. I can grow my own flowers and make my own joy.”
