Returning nu metal giants Limp Bizkit have been added to the bill for this year’s Sonisphere festival.
After years in the wilderness, nu metal seems to be making something of a return recently. Linkin Park are working on new material, Faith No More have reformed and Limp Bizkit have come out of hiatus.
Limp Bizkit are a product of the ever fertile Californian metal scene. Once the prodigies of Korn the band struck out on their own, with frontman Fred Durst having his own unique slant on rapping.
With his red cap and plentiful tattoos Durst became an idol to millions, with his band capable of packing out enormous arenas across the world. After a lengthy break, Limp Bizkit recently played their first show in almost a decade in Latvia.
Rolling out the hits, Limp Bizkit sounded as fresh and loud as ever. A recent headline slot at Download saw the band recapture former glories, sending the crowd into ecstasy with classic tracks such as ‘Break Stuff’ and ‘Faith’.
Fans who couldn’t make it to Download have been cheered by the news that Limp Bizkit are set to return to the UK later in the year. The band have been added to the bill for Sonisphere, and are set to headline the Knebworth Park bash.
Taking place over August 1st – 2nd, Sonisphere brings together some of the world’s loudest acts in the crucible of British rock. Knebworth has hosted numerous iconic gigs in the past, including one of Led Zeppelin’s finest shows.
Already announced for the festival are the likes of Linkin Park and Metallica. Thrash heroes Metallica recently set the attendance record for the O2 Arena, then returned to London six months later and broke the record again.
Also due to perform at Sonisphere are Alice In Chains, Bullet For My Valentine, Fighting With Wire, Mastodon and many more.
Sonisphere is due to take place between August 1st – 2nd.
