Foul mouthed pop pixie Lily Allen has been invited to join a political campaign – by both Labour and the Conservatives.
Lily Allen likes to speak her mind. Check out ‘Not Fair’ perhaps the sauciest slice of filth to make the daytime playlist on Radio One since the heyday of Frankie Goes To Hollywood.
Always outspoken, the singer decided to take a break from music after the furore relating to her views on illegal downloading. Given personal abuse online after arguing that it damages emerging talent, Lily Allen stepped back from the music scene.
Focussing on acting and other projects, Lily Allen was apparently courted by both Labour and the Conservatives ahead of the General Election.
Speaking to the Sunday Times the singer claimed that both parties courted her ahead of their recent conferences. The revelation is particularly odd, given that Tory leader David Cameron recently claimed that her music was “unsuitable” for his young daughter.
“Never mind. I don’t think they’d have been denouncing me if I’d turned up at the Conservative Party conference,” Allen said.
“I got an invite to the Labour one (conference) as well,” she added.
Continuing, Lily Allen argued that David Cameron’s views are slightly hypocritical. “I thought that his favourite album that he likes listening to with his kids is the Arctic Monkeys, which if I’m not mistaken is all about one-night stands and prostitution,” she said.
Meanwhile, music has entered the election with Gordon Brown attacking the Conservatives… alongside an Elvis Presley impersonator. Taking place at a press call, the Prime Minster spoke while the singer performed some of The King’s finest hits.
The minds boggles.
