Lil Yachty & James Blake Share Collaborative Album ‘Bad Cameo’

An organic meeting of creative minds, listen to album here...

Lil Yachty and James Blake have today unveiled their collaborative album ‘Bad Cameo’, via Quality Control Music/Polydor.

The duo integrate elements of ambient and electronica with flecks of Jersey club, acid house and breaks, on a widescreen record located in the nocturnal netherworld. An experimental tapestry of styles, sonics and textures, ‘Bad Cameo’ is a departure from Yachty’s psychedelic-rap experiment ‘Let’s Start Here’.

The trailblazing force leans into Blake’s deconstructed iterations of dance music. In turn, the two approach one another’s craft with intrigue and assertion, marrying the worlds of SoundCloud rap with grandiose instrumental stylings. Through warbled tones and emotionally-charged verses, the pair weave between vocal takes with a natural ease, often operating as one contrasting voice.

In support of the album, Blake and Yachty sat down with Zane Lowe for an exclusive interview, surveying their creative bond whilst discussing challenges in the industry, artistic autonomy, the evolution of their songwriting and the immersiveness of their synthetic creation.
