Lightspeed Champion’s American tour was almost derailed after the singer suffered an abscess on his face, it emerged.
Dev Hynes is currently touring his “Falling Off The Lavender Bridge” album in the US. The album was actually recorded there, in collaboration with Omaha’s Saddle Creek collective. A glorious mixture of country instrumentation and surreal lyrics, the album was a triumph gaining numerous warm reviews.
Lightspeed Champion has a history of ill health, and was forced to cancel his Camden Crawl shows earlier in the year due to an infection. His current illness is due to an abscess in his face, which apparently burst just before the acoustic star was due to go on stage.
Dev Hynes is famed for keeping a highly detailed blog of his life and adventures, describing the abscess thus:
“Remember I had a blood infection not too long ago? Well due to going on tour again days after I had finished my medicine course, I eventually managed to get an abscess on my face… it was horrible…it went down a bit as I realised I have no time to see a doctor”
