Liars Return With Sixth Album

Due for release this summer

Liars are set to release their sixth studio album through Mute Records on June 4th.

Gently teasing fans with a Tumblr which is equal parts informative and mis-leading, Liars have steadily, patiently built up material for a new studio album. Now the band are ready to break cover, with their sixth LP set to drop on June 4th.

As yet un-titled, material for the album was apparently kick-started after Angus Andrew and Aaron Hemphill fled to a log cabin. Working from the ground up, Liars bought an abandoned prison in Los Angeles to use as a studio.

Self-produced, Mute founder Daniel Miller stepped in on additional production. Tom Biller is handling the final mix, while frontman Angus Andrew supplies the following press quote: “If we aren’t confusing people, it’s not us. If we aren’t confusing ourselves with what we do, then we’ve failed.”

Fancy a bit more background? Angus Andrew spoke to ClashMusic earlier this year, enthusing about the creative process. “When we work on music it’s got a lot to do with us being shut in a hole individually – we set ourselves up individually, do a lot of work and then come together. Even if we’re in the same space” he said. “When we start to do this visual stuff it’s way more of a group thing and something happens when you’re able to get this pro-active thing going a bit more and that seeps back into the music , if you like.”
