Liars have always been ones to go one step further, one step beyond the norm.
So when the group began plotting a Record Store Day release, they quickly entered the realms of fantasy.
Deciding to press new cut 'Mess On A Mission' on vinyl, Liars asked designers if it was possible to include coloured string in see-through wax.
Angus Andrew: "We talked about the idea for days but weren't at all sure it could physically be done. After all, pressing bits of colored string into the actual vinyl was nothing we'd ever heard of before. To us it seemed like such a unique and interesting way to extend the visual language of (new album) 'Mess' right inside the music."
Julian Gross directed the artwork, commenting: "I wanted to manipulate something in a live setting, so it was always changing and not just static. Then this undulating string started looking like this animal – it looked cool and pretty, but also looked a bit fucked up and vibrant. A lot of those things are very similar to what we were trying to do with this record."

'Mess' is set to be released on March 24th.
