Liana Flores Shares Bossa-Inspired ‘i wish for the rain’

The Norfolk singer is one to watch...

British-Brazilian artist Liana Flores shares her inaugural release, ‘i wish for the rain’, on the iconic Verve Records, with Fiction Records repping the singer in the UK.

Produced and mixed by Noah Georgeson (Joanna Newsom Devendra Banhart, Natalia Lafourcade), ‘i wish for was rain’ is a softly-strummed bossa invention, taking cues from the jazz-pop revivalism of artists like Laufey, and the storytelling detail of Vashti Bunyan, Nick Drake and João Gilberto.

Of the wistful track, Liana says: “the song arose from a walk home one night in the height of summer; it was a time of heartbreak and I couldn’t help but think of how welcoming a little rain can be for rumination. ‘IWFTR’ is the torch song of my upcoming record, dramatic but gentle and a little aloof.”

Liana has previously supported Laufey and Matt Maltese on their respective tours, and has since announced a headline tour of her own, with select shows in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, as well as UK shows in Manchester.
