Liam Payne's reaction to the Will Smith, Chris Rock spat is remarkable.
Speaking on the red carpet after attending the Oscars, the pop star unfurled a bizarre mid-Atlantic accent before giving his views on the matter.
Having watched Chris Rock mock Jada Smith's hair loss – he referred to her as the shaven-headed G.I. Jane – Will Smith then climbed onstage and slapped the host, before berating him from his chair.
In Liam Payne's eyes, the violence wasn't entirely uncalled for: "I believe whatever he felt that he did, he had the right to do."
The pop star added that he couldn't watch the incident: "I had to leave my chair I'll be honest with you, it cut me really deep."
