Liam Gallagher has revealed his intention to record an entirely new score for an upcoming Beatles biopic.
Published in the 70s, ‘The Longest Cocktail Party’ charted the bizarre story of Apple Records. Eager to take control of their affairs, The Beatles formed their own record company striking a blow for artistic independence.
The company’s lavishly painted building became an iconic structure in 60s London, with Apple recording numerous other artists. Now Liam Gallagher has confirmed his intention to shoot a film version of ‘The Longest Cocktail Party’.
Recently the singer ruled himself out of making a guest appearance in the film, but it seems he could appear on the soundtrack. Speaking to The Guardian, Liam Gallagher claimed that he was writing original material for the film.
Explaining that the score could contain Beatles’ tracks “if we want it” the singer revealed that his new band were set to record material for the soundtrack.
“We’re gonna do it – my new band’s going to do the soundtrack. We can recreate that sound like that, you know what I mean? I think it will be more exciting if you have a sound that reminds you of that era, instead of the obvious, going, ‘Oh, there’s ‘Let It Be”.”
Gallagher insisted that the film is not “just about The Beatles” adding that “it’s about Apple Records.” A much wider phenomenon, the label invested heavily in experimental sound technology and became a conduit for creative forces in swinging London and beyond.
However fans shouldn’t expect a lengthy career in cinema from Liam Gallagher. “I’m doing this one thing and that is it, I’m back on the dole.”
