Liam Gallagher Steps In To Help Local Kids Charity

"One of my proudest moments..."

Liam Gallagher has stepped in to aid local kids charity GOODSTOCK.

The Mancunian icon is also a long-time North London resident, and has stepped in to help his local primary school. Highgate Primary School is geared towards being as inclusive as possible, but they need a little help for their often specialist activities.

Keen to help out, music industry executives and twin sisters Katie and Debbie Gwyther have founded the new charity initiative GOODSTOCK. The aim is to raise some vitally needed funds for Highgate Primary School, which is attended by Katie’s son and Debbie’s nephew.

The school formed a choir, with the kids invited to record at local studio The Church – run by Paul Epworth, everyone from Arlo Parks to The Kills have worked there recently.

The children recorded their take on The Beatles’ evergreen classic ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’, which is released with a heart-warming introduction from Liam Gallagher. The iconic frontman says:

“One of my proudest moments was to be asked to introduce the Highgate Primary School Choir’s version of this Beatles song. They sung their little hearts out and they sound biblical.”

Out now, the sessions was recorded by drum ‘n’ bass duo turned top tier songwriters/producers FUTURE CUT, whose co-founder Tunde Babalola has a son at the school.

Actor Christopher Eccleston is inspired by the school’s work, and has agreed to become an ambassador for the charity. Highgate Primary School co-head teachers William Dean and Rebecca Lewis comment…

“At Highgate Primary we pride ourselves on our genuinely inclusive ethos, but inclusion comes with a financial cost. With school and SEN funding as it is, maintaining great provision requires creative approaches. The opportunity for our children to work with industry professionals at The Church Studios on such an exciting project has been a fantastic experience for everyone involved – and knowing that any money that is raised will support children to get the support they need, makes this project even more special.”
