Returning Manchester based songsmith Liam Frost has released a new duet with Martha Wainwright as a free download.
Real name Liam Pickering, Liam Frost chose his second name wisely – the singer’s voice and songcraft can send shivers down your spine. Backed by a loose group of musicians named The Slowdown Family, Frost has specialised in producing spectral folk-influenced music.
Liam Frost had a long musical education, playing in several punk groups before turning solo. Swapping anarchic shouting for pastoral folk, Frost has retained the directness he learned on the Manchester punk scene.
After gaining a strong local following Liam Frost released his debut album ‘Show Me How The Spectres Dance’ in 2006. An immediate smash with critics, the record was released on the tiny indie label Lavolta.
Nonetheless Liam Frost quickly became the name to drop, with his spell binding single ‘The Mourners Of St Pauls’ winning plenty of plaudits.
After lengthy tours, Liam Frost returned to the rehearsal room to begin work on a follow up. Now set to return, the singer recently confirmed details of his latest album ‘We Ain’t Got No Money, Honey, But We Got Rain’.
Eagerly anticipated by fans, the album is a clear step up from his acclaimed debut. Produced by Victor Van Vught in New York, the record will be preceded by the single ‘Held Tightly In Your Hand’ which is due for release on September 14th.
However fans eager for a taste of ‘We Ain’t Got No Money, Honey, But We Got Rain’ have been granted a special preview. Martha Wainwright popped by the studio for a rendition of ‘Your Hand In Mine’ which is available to download now.
Liam Frost had the following to say on the duet:
“Martha’s an amazing artist, so it was great to work with her on my album. We’re not exactly Sonny and Cher, but we’d have definitely given Ike and Tina Turner a run for their money.”
