New York indie rock heroes Les Savy Fav will release new album ‘Oui, LSF’ later this year.
The band formed in 1995, a group of friends attending Rhode Island School of Design. The first iteration of Les Savy Fav shuddered to a halt in 2010, but the individual musicians always felt that words were left unsaid, and songs unwritten.
Drawn together as older – maybe not wiser – musicians, a flurry of recent shows illustrated that Les Savy Fav remain one of the best live bands on the planet.
New album ‘Oui, LSF’ goes one further – out on May 10th, it ends over a decade of silence. The band’s Syd Butler comments: “The last record was a lot about holding on. ‘OUI, LSF’ is the sound of release — no map, no preconceptions, no self-righteous certainty. There’s nothing like hitting 50 to slap the cocksure vanity off your face.”
New song ‘Guzzle Blood’ darts out of the traps, all colour and panache. There’s a sense of darkness too, one that is cartoonish at times, but no less affecting.
Frontman Tim Harrington had the following to say about their new track:
“As the first song on OUI, LSF, Guzzle Blood drops you into the bottom of a dark well. In a lot of ways the rest of the record is about the things we do to climb back out.”
‘Guzzle Blood’ comes backed by a video sculpted by the cult animator, Christy Karacas. Tune in now.
