'Songs From The Road' set for release

Legendary songwriter Leonard Cohen is set to release his new tour documentary 'Songs From The Road' on September 13th.

Leonard Cohen's comeback has been remarkable. Emerging from a Zen monastery after years of study, the enigmatic songwriter found to his horror that an errant accountant had drained his funds.

Fighting a costly legal battle, the singer rolled up his sleeves and went to work. Releasing a remarkable new album, Leonard Cohen also found a publisher for his written material bringing his celebrated novels and poetry back into print.

Completing an emotional world tour last year, Leonard Cohen delighted fans with some spell binding shows. Moving through his back catalogue with no little presence and grace, the singer is now due to release a revealing documentary.

'Songs From The Road' tells the story of the remarkable tour, containing a unique compilation of performances. Collected during 2008 and 2009, the shows will be backed with a number of behind the scenes bonus content.

Following on from previous releases, the new DVD has been compiled by Leonard Cohen himself. In addition to some lump-in-throat style renditions of classic material, the DVD also contains an exclusive 20-minute behind the scenes documentary, featuring interviews with band members that were conducted by Leonard’s daughter, Lorca Cohen.

Alongside this 'Songs From The Road' will contain two lengthy essays by Leon Wieseltier and Ed Sanders, who served as producer of the sound recording and editing.

In other news, an archive film of Leonard Cohen is set to be shown at The Green Man. 'Bird On The Wire' was recorded during the singer's 1972 European tour and contains some very intimate moments.
