Leaf Label Sampler

Download it for free!

You can start the weekend off with a bang after The Leaf Label revealed that it is set to make a recent sampler free to download.

British music is dotted with peerless independents, folk who decided that the acts they adore are simply not getting enough attention. From Rough Trade to Transgressive indie labels have broke new ground, and released some startling records.

One of the finest indie labels in Britain right now is The Leaf Label. Founded by Tony Morley, the imprint specialises in left-field music with a particular penchant for electronica.

Morley began life at 4AD – itself a fine label. Originally the press officer, the music fan began hearing demos by acts he liked by knew would struggle to get released. Forming his own label, Tony Morley returned to Yorkshire to begin his very independent musical vision.

The Leaf Label is now fifteen years old, and has released albums by some stunning talents. Four Tet’s early material came via the label, with the imprint also released records by the likes of Susumu Yokota, Efterklang and many more.

Still coming up with the goods after fifteen years in business, The Leaf Label recently celebrated its birthday with a snazzy new compilation. Titled ‘Don’t Run Over The Birds’ the sampler featured songs from most of the artists currently on the Leaf roster.

Containing previous released classics alongside unheard material, the sampler delighted fans and won plenty of new admirers.

Now the Leaf Label has made the compilation available as a budget download through a few handpicked retailers. Priced at just 99p ‘Don’t Run Over The Birds’ will also be available for free to anyone who signs up for the Leaf newsletter.
