London-based French singer-songwriter Léa Sen will release her debut album, ‘LEVELS’, on May 30th via Partison Records.
Teased with the pining single ‘lvl 1 – HOME ALONE’, ‘LEVELS’ moves between dreamlike abstractions and emotionally naked introspection, imagining a liminal hotel where each room represents a different phase of the singer’s life and experiences up til now.
With the album reveal, the singer shares new single ‘lvl 6 – VIDEO GAMES’ – a chimera of hazy guitar work, muted vocals and dewy-eyed ruminations. Léa Sen says:
“‘Video Games’ is a window into how my past continues to shape me – whether I welcome it or not. It’s a dance between memory and habit, between the world I saw as a child and the one I see now. Some things fade, some things linger, and some you simply learn to live with. The song explores both comfort and fear—how the past can weigh on you, but also how joy can always be found within it.”
In 2019, after experiencing a personal loss Léa decamped from Paris to London by herself. A scary but successful gambit by 2021 Léa became a sought-after collaborator by a slew of prominent UK musicians. She featured on Joy Orbison’s signature song ‘better’, in addition to working with the likes of Sampha and Vegyn, all while building on her own artistry with her solo EPs, ‘You of Now’ pts. 1 & 2.
Léa Sen has also announced a headline show on May 29th at St. Pancras Old Church in London on the eve of her album release. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10am.
