Le Pain return with effervescent indie pop single 'Troisième Groupe'.
There's an age-old trope in American culture about the difference between the coasts – while the East Coast is intense and grey, the West Coast is rather more light, and relaxed.
As usual, the truth is more nuanced, but there's something to be said for the origins of rising indie pop force Le Pain.
Formed by members of Yucky Duster and Public Practice who swapped New York for the West Coast, they pull from 60s psych, baroque pop, and Krautrock, injecting some sunshine into their sound.
New single 'Troisième Groupe' is a real charmer, with its succinct songwriting and pop edge recalling everyone from Stereolab's more direct moments to elements of the Broadcast catalogue.
Rippling indie pop that is worth filing alongside the early Alvvays singles, 'Troisième Groupe' has a character of its own, with familial pairing Madeline and Olivia Black driving the song forwards.
