Snappy! LCD Soundsystem completed their third album earlier this year, after a lengthy recording process at a mansion in Los Angeles. Somehow, James Murphy just couldn’t keep his mind on the job…
However the material is completed. Due for release this summer, details of the new album are leaking out one piece at a time.
First Murphy revealed the tracklisting, giving a few hints as to what fans could expect. The recently released track ‘Drunk Girls’ is streaming on LCD Soundsystem’s official website, containing more guitars than previous album ‘Sound Of Silver’.
James Murphy, of course, began life in the post-hardcore group Six Finger Satellite so his return to guitars should come as no surprise. Last year the singer even claimed to be forming a new band with cohort Pat Mahoney, returning to his rock roots.
The producer eventually buckled under and completed work on LCD Soundsystem’s third album which is set to be their last. In an interview earlier this year Murphy revealed that the New York group would cease after the release of ‘This Is Happening’.
In yet more LCD Soundsystem news, the cover to the new album has been released. Featuring James Murphy in a suit and skinny tie, the producer is busting a few moves – presumably to the new album.
“It’s great to see James dancing his way onto the cover of his album Robert Longo style. Luv it!” explained the DFA label’s official website.
LCD Soundsystem are set to release ‘This Is Happening’ this summer.
