LCD Soundsystem Album Plans

Due in March apparently

New York dance-punk outfit LCD Soundsystem have continued to tease fans with information about their new album.

LCD Soundsystem began life as a project for James Murphy. The producer turned his ongoing sound rig (Death From Above) into a record label with the help of Tim Goldsworthy, before turning his attention to his own music.

The band’s debut single ‘Losing My Edge’ is by now a modern classic, with its hipper-than-thou manifesto enshrined onto the consciousness of a generation of music geeks.

Follow up album ‘LCD Soundsystem’ was a melting pot of streamlined techno and inspired ranting, justifiably earning a place in our ‘Essential 50’. Click HERE to read our thoughts on LCD Soundsystem’s debut album!

Since then, the band have crafted a Nike mix before releasing the sublime ‘Sound Of Silver’. Recently returning to their ’45:33′ mix project LCD Soundsystem invited a variety of producers to re-craft their material.

But what fans really want is some new material. LCD Soundsystem last released a new album in 2007, with James Murphy engaging in a variety of projects since then. A series of blog postings have hinted at new material, with a new album thought to be almost ready.

Now in a new Facebook posting James Murphy has written simply: “record: march. tour: after”.

No other information is given. In the past James Murphy has spoken about new material, insisting that while he was working continually fans would have to wait. It now seems like the wait is almost over!

LCD Soundsystem are set to release their new album in March.
