Laurie Anderson, Donna Summer, N.W.A. and more will be given Lifetime Achievement Awards at the Grammys this year.
The 66th annual Grammy awards takes place on February 4th in Los Angeles, and some subtle changes have been made. The number of nominations in the Big Four categories have been trimmed from 10 to 8, but the Grammy committee have added three new categories – Best Alternative Jazz Album, Best Pop Dance Recording, and Best African Music Performance.
As is tradition, the winners of the Lifetime Achievement Awards have been confirmed ahead of the ceremony itself. New York based experimental artist Laurie Anderson will pick up the award, alongside soul queen Gladys Knight.
Country icon Tammy Wynette will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, alongside the Clark Sisters, and seminal West Coast hip-hop crew N.W.A. – an eclectic mix.
In a note on Instagram, Laurie Anderson noted: “What luck! To be part of a group of some of my all-time favorite artists.”
