Laurel has shared new single ‘Change’.
The new track represents the end of one chapter and the inauguration of another, with Laurel sealing off her past, and opening up potential new pathways. It follows a hectic 2022, which saw her sell out London’s Village Underground, and grab a massive guest spot on Flume’s acclaimed album ‘Palaces’.
Out now, ‘Change’ taps into her pop roots, and exists in parallel to fellow avant-pop voyagers Charli XCX and Caroline Polachek. Lyrically, it’s about ripping up the past and moving on, signalling the demise of a relationship in the process.
Dextrous production pierced with rays of vivid colour, the song bursts out of the traps Laurel has been placed inside. A quest for freedom, ‘Change’ points to what could lie ahead of her.
She comments…
“’Change’ is about the end of a relationship. You’re holding on and telling each other you will change if only you could have one more chance. In the end, it’s always just words, living in a fantasy, scared to let go of the dream rather than the person.”
Tune in now.
