Laura Misch Announces Sister Project ‘Sample The Earth’ & Headline Show At Union Chapel

The south-east London musician re-imagines her full-length debut 'Sample The Sky'...

Laura Misch has announced her upcoming project ‘Sample The Earth’, set to release on June 7th via One Little Independent Records.

Re-imagining last year’s debut album ’Sample The Sky’ through an acoustic lens, the instrumentalist, producer and vocalist continues to explore the breadth of her work. Inspired by stripped-back performances amongst Sydenham Woods, ’Sample The Earth’ extends the significance behind its original form, shifting the focus towards community and human connection. More intimate and reflective, the artist looks back on the relationship that marked her earlier material, treating her latest release as a means to personal growth.

The south-east Londoner has also announced a headline show at Union Chapel on September 19th which will see her perform the tracks for the first time alongside a full live band.

Speaking on the intentions behind the project, Misch expands: “I think I needed to find a way to evolve the music, and in the most respectful of ways; you can love something so deeply and the work that you made, but still have a painful relationship with it. So this process was a kind of healing. To be able to gather with my band and friends and regrow it. This ties into the communal aspect, I think the emotion underneath it all was grief, grief for the relationship, but also grief for the wider world. In coming together, it was very cathartic.”

Incorporating the work of harp and piano player Marysia Osu, guitarist Tomáš Kašpar, cellist Emma Barnaby and backing vocals from Polly Misch and Sian O’Gorman, ‘Sample The Earth’ shines a new light on Misch’s spellbinding debut.

Tune in now.
