Laura Marling has revealed that she has ditched a batch of recently recorded material.
Initially emerging as a coy, shy performer Laura Marling has blossomed into one of Britain’s most potent songwriters. Recent album ‘I Speak Because I Can’ was an enormous success, pushing the singer into the mainstream.
However the commercial success did not overshadow the artistry. Laura Marling’s songwriting effortlessly blends British folk styles with a sense of Americana, with her velvet voice intoning those striking lyrics.
Initially planning to release two albums in 2011, Laura Marling has now ditched attempts to record her third LP. The singer recently returned to the studio, but left unsatisfied by the material she completed.
Speaking to the NME, the songwriter explained that fans will have to wait a little longer for her third album. “It’s not going to be this year, but it’s good,” she explained.
“It will be on its way soon, which is nice. It’s becoming different from the last album actually, because I’ve scrapped a bit of it halfway through. I hope to have it done by February. Setting deadlines is not my favourite thing!”
Sessions for the new album follow a collaborative EP with Mumford & Sons and the Indian folk group Dharohar Project. In addition to this, Laura Marling is set to launch a new British tour next month.
The singer is set to open her new tour in Sheffield on November 20th, with two nights planned at London’s Conway Hall. Touring across the country, Laura Marling is due to finish the tour with a lavish show at London’s Alexandra Palace on December 2nd.
