Late Of The Pier have unveiled new plans for their Zarcorp label including singles and events.
Late Of The Pier are a world unto themselves. The band’s 2008 debut ‘Fantasy Black Channel’ was a work of startling imagination, shoehorning together influences as disparate as Daft Punk and prog rock.
Retreating to their base in Nottingham, the band have released a handful of singles since then. Working on new material, Late Of The Pier have also been focussing on their ongoing Zarcorp label.
Launched to release their own material, Zarcorp was home to the initial release of ‘The Bears Are Coming’. Expanding to include other artists, the label recently released Egyptian Hip Hop’s spectacular single ‘Wild Human Child’.
Now the band have unveiled more plans for the imprint. Issuing a statement, Late Of The Pier re-affirmed their commitment to the project. “Releasing only on 250 high quality white vinyl each release costs less than £5. And because you only buy records to get to the music that’s on them, any money goes straight to the people who made the music – the musicians.”
“Well, that is after we’ve given some to Water Aid. ‘Cos it’s a bit of a joke that as you sit down to enjoy some 21st Century earworms, some poor bugger somewhere else can’t even get their mitts on a glass of clean water.”
Zarcorp is set to gear up with a new single from Hot Horizons. Titled ‘October / Spoken’ the single will be released on limited edition seven inch vinyl this October, and comes as the band prepare to launch a raft of new projects.
“Future plans involve growing into and supporting multi-media work by various artists we’ve loved for a long time.. expect written pictures, moving words and interesting events from the stable soon..”
“Our records were made to be heard, and they were made to be loved. If one appears in your life and you’d rather it hadn’t then give it to a friend you think might enjoy it.”
