Last Shadow Puppets To Return?

Miles Kane seems to think so

Last Shadow Puppets could beset to return, according to songwriter Miles Kane.

Formed by a Rascal and a Monkey, The Last Shadow Puppets were an enormous success. Taking their artistic cue from Burt Bacharach’s sweeping orchestral pop, the group’s debut album was critically acclaimed.

Awarded with a Mercury nomination, the album saw the partnership between Miles Kane and Alex Turner cemented. Since then, Arctic Monkeys have released an album strangely indebted to the group, while Miles Kane has gone solo.

Splitting The Rascals, the Liverpool based songwriter has been working on solo material. Due to be released later this year, Miles Kane has completed work on his debut solo album which is eagerly awaited by fans.

However before the singer can even preview material on a forthcoming British tour, Miles Kane is being probed over a possible second album from Last Shadow Puppets.

Speaking to the NME, Miles Kane confirmed that the duo would reconvene. “Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely,” he confirmed. “After I’ve done this stuff, I guess” he explained. “I’ve got a few things up my sleeve.”

Despite turning solo, Miles Kane has continued to collaborate with guest artists. On the singer’s forthcoming debut album the indie star was joined by Super Furry Animals maverick Gruff Rhys.

Admitting that Last Shadow Puppets are “a tough act to follow” the singer has claimed that the new album is the equal of 2008’s ‘The Age Of The Understatement’. “I’ve made a record that does stand up to that,” he declared. “It’s musically and lyrically as good, and that’s all I can do.”

Miles Kane is due to release his debut solo album later this year.
